This wine sees a bit of barrique and you notice a bit of that toasty oak nuance to the ripe cherry berry fruit on the nose with hints of black tar and licorice spice. Lots of ripe cherry and wild strawberry like fruit on the tongue with a host of tannin and exotic spices through the finish, has some toasty oak spice through the finish, but overall very nicely balanced and built for the long haul. Finish 50 Most Excellent
(92 Points) ~~The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Castello Romitorio emerges from the glass with crushed flowers, sweet red berries, licorice, spices and tobacco. The fruit gains freshness and energy as the wine sits in the glass. Sweet floral notes add lift and brightness on the articulate finish. This is a refined, mid-weight Brunello that impresses for its elegance and class. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027. Wine Advocate #200, Apr 2012
