2009 Cal Pal Mas D'En Compte Blanc Priorat

The 2009 Blanco is a blend of 50% Garnacha Blanc from vines over 80 years of age, Xarel-lo, and Piquepoul aged for 6 months in French and American oak. Gold in color with a very perfumed nose of mineral, popcorn, baking spices, and melon, on the palate it is creamy-textured, rich, spicy, and very lengthy. This impeccably balanced white is likely to evolve for 2-3 years and drink well for a decade.



Mas d'En Compte's Blanco is a rare white wine from the village of Porrera (less than 2% of Priorat's production is white).

Bright gold. Extremely aromatic bouquet of pit fruits, pear, smoked meat and flowers. Fleshy orchard fruit and melon flavors are firmed by dusty minerals and complicated by baking spices and minerals. Gains weight with air, finishing with strong notes of cinnamon and vanilla, probably a result of the 100% new oak treatment that this received. Wild stuff. 91 points Stephen Tanzer
