2007 Constant Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain

(94 points) The outstanding 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa offers sweet notes of black currants intermixed with subtle smoke, burning embers and graphite jump from the glass of this deep ruby/purple-colored wine. Full-bodied, rich, layered and structured, it begs for 2-3 years of cellaring, and should keep for 20-25+. Fred and Mary Constant’s vineyard that straddles the Napa/Sonoma county line high on Diamond Mountain is one of the most beautiful sites in an area known for numerous spectacular vistas. With assistance from winemaking consultant Paul Hobbs, the Constant wines have gone from strength to strength over recent vintages, with the finest examples included in the following tasting notes. Constant produces two Cabernet Sauvignon cuvees, one a 50-50 blend from their vineyard that traverses both Napa and Sonoma counties, and a second wine that is made from 100% Napa fruit.
