(Tasting Notes) On the nose, François Carillon Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Champ-Gain displays notes of lime, fresh pear, green apple and a background of wet stone. The palate is precise, with a mineral and citrus attack: lemon, pink grapefruit, lime peel. The mid-palate is silky in texture, with vibrant acidity. The finish is long, with salinity, echoes of bitter almond and herbal freshness (fennel, verbena). The minerality marks the entire length. An elegantly austere Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru that rewards the attentive palate and suggests a long life in bottle.
