Château Tanunda’s 100 Year Old VinesShiraz2009 has triumphed at one of Europe’s leading wine shows, the prestigious Berlin Wine Trophy 2012, winning “Best Dry Red Wine of the Show”.

Challenging the perception thatAustraliais a relative youngster on the global wine scene, the Barossa is home to some of the oldest vines in the world. It is fruit sourced from these centenarian vines that has enabled The Château’s 100 Year Old Vines Shiraz to climb the ranks and see off competition from 4,500 entries and 30 countries at this year’s show.

In the harsh Australian climate, these 100 year old vines have stood the test of time and are the perfect complement to the Château’s traditional winemaking techniques. These bespoke methods combine “Old World” approaches of hand-picking, open fermenting and basket pressing the grapes and neither fining nor filtering the wine with a “New World” attention to detail.
