The 2004 vintage was outstanding in Ribera Del Duero and this 100% Tempranillo based wine is a vineyard selection of older vines and although it did not spend enough time in oak to label it a Reserva or Gran Reserva, this wine was aged for 15 months in French and American oak and bottled without filtration. This new wave Spanish wine is equal in quality to any reserva you will find from the 2004 vintage in its price point. A very intense wine on the nose with dark cherry berry fruit a host of floral and fresh earthy notes, dark mocha and spice with a smoky meaty note also very complex bouquet of aromas, some graphite pencil lead notes. This wine is still very fresh on the tongue with a good amount of ripe fruit still here and layers of that fresh earth, mocha and espresso and dark coco Most Excellent
