WINE WATCH NOTES: The Colene Sauvignon Blanc by David Frost Wine is an excellent effort and has a strong resemblance to the unique style of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. The distinct terroir and similar situation in terms of latitude in which these wines are produced. The intensity of fruit and the distinct mineral component of this wine is what determines its high quality. On the nose the bouquet is intensely focused with pretty floral highlights a touch of herbs and wet stone like minerality crescendo as the wine sits in the glass thick and viscous on the palate with a good amount of white pear, melon rind and green apple fruit with hints of gooseberry and pineapple flavors unfolding on the palate, a firm hand of acidity and a distinct minerality lengthens the finish and cleans the palate leaving it yearning for a second glass.
