2012 Matanzas Creek Journey Sauvignon Blanc Sonoma County

Journey Sauvignon Blanc was first produced in 2012. Given the winery’s long and illustrious history with this noble variety it was a natural step. As with the other Journey bottlings, this is a winemaker selection featuring the best vineyards, clones, blocks and barrels. The fruit is sourced from a handful of great sites including Helena Bench, Coyote Hills and Haarstad. Strict farming practices, such as rigorous canopy management and earlier harvest, produce grapes that are concentrated and structured. The wine is fermented and aged with a carefully selected South African yeast culture in a combination of vessels (stainless steel tanks, stainless steel barrels, concrete eggs, puncheons, foudres and French oak barrels) to augment the aromatics and texture. A powerful and balanced wine, Journey Sauvignon Blanc offers notes of roasted tangerine, ginger, almonds and white slate.
