Winemaker Notes
Just like the cycling term Beyond Category, this wine does not fall into any classification or category for definitive purposes. From a winemakers perspective it offers a true exploratory freedom without the confines of tradition or repetition every year. This freedom allowed us to find an incredible compliment of varietal, clone, aspect and location in the vineyard and even cooperage in the winery. This wine is silky with a fascinating layered structure, full of vibrant red and purple fruit mixed with scents of lavender and mint. Waves of black cherry, rhubarb and red currant flavors are at the heart of this complex, yet inviting blend and will show beautifully for the next five to seven years.
