(93 Points -- Wine Advocate)
The 2003 St.-Joseph Les Granits blanc (327 cases) tastes like 10-W-40 orange oil. Extremely full-bodied, alcoholic, potent, thick, and unctuous, it is nearly too rich to be believed. In keeping with Chapoutier’s philosophy that nothing can be touched or altered, this is an extraordinary expression of the granite terroir of St.-Joseph as well as the exotic, immortal concentration levels of this unusual vintage. This wine should drink well young, but its power and richness suggest it will age far better than expected given its low acidity. (RP) Review Date: 02/2006
