2009 Elvio Cogno Barolo Cascina Nuova

This is the entry level Barolo from this producer, two years in large wood, traditional style. All of their wines are estate with the exception of the Barbaresco, red licorice and dried flowers, red cherry berry fruit, notes of fresh earth, truffle and tar, lots of earthy aromas coming out as the wines opens. A big and chewy wine on the tongue with lots of ripe delicious red cherry fruit, firm tannins and an array of spice and earth, juicy fruit this, vintage does have a nice forward nature but this wine needs at least 3-5 years in the cellar.
