2010 Big Basin Vineyards Homestead Red California

The winery is located in the Santa Cruz Mountains, a blend Grenache 37%, 36% Syrah, 27% Mouvedre. The fruit is sourced from various vineyards, only 14 barrels produced. A nice amount of fresh berry fruit on the nose, dried flowers and herbs and black licorice spice, dark coco notes and a hint of wild game. A big and chewy wine on the tongue with sweet berry pie like fruit and a host of that spice and floral nuance from the nose through the finish, a good bit of tannins at the end but lots of fruit here.
