2013 Crocker & Starr 'Stone Place' Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley (1.5 Liter)

It’s fine, but totally overwhelmed by the brilliance of the Cabernet Franc and the compelling 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Stone Place, which is 100% estate Cabernet Sauvignon from 40-year-old vines, aged in 90% new French oak. There are just under 600 cases of this gorgeous wine from Pam Starr. The wine has a dense opaque purple color, a big, sweet kiss of pen ink, blackberry and crème de cassis liqueurs, some licorice, graphite and underlying forest floor nuances. It is full-bodied, super-pure and rich, with a somewhat gravelly minerality also coming out in the flavors. This is a full-bodied classic from St. Helena that should drink well for 20-25 years.
