Dark and brooding, the 2019 Aglianico Vigna Cataratte slowly opens with a bouquet of wilted violets, dusty earth and dried wild berries. This is savory in character, with zesty red and black fruits complicated by chalky minerals and masses of exotic spice, all propelled by sharp acidity. It finishes structured and long with a pleasantly bitter tinge as a vivid note of sour cherry fades. While cellaring will be required, the Vigna Cataratte will be worth waiting for. 2026-2032
