2010 Elena Walch Merlot Reserva Alto Adige Kastelaz

This is 100% Merlot and is fermented in new French oak, this wine then spends 2 years in barrigue and only 500 cases are produced, from the top part of the hill. This wine does have some of that herbal quality of merlot with plum and cherry fruit, tobacco spice and some fresh plowed earth. A good amount of juicy plum and cherry fruit on the tongue, plush velvety texture with silky smooth tannins and a firm hand of acidity to keep things fresh through the finish echoing those herbs and spice from the nose through the finish.
