The Vineyard Graacher Himmelreich consist of stony slate soil, sitting on a very steep sloped vineyards with a southern exposure.
Vintage Report The warm and dry summer was clearly noticeable, especially in the young vineyards the drought stress became apparent. Sites where the vines are up to 130 years old and thus rooted in deeper layers of soil had an easier time accessing low-lying water reserves. The experience of the last 20 years has shown that especially old vineyards can cope with such difficult weather conditions and therefore produce excellent grape qualities. The harvest in 2022 did not start until the end of September, but great wines are already showing.
