2015 White Wine Entre Chien et Loup

The 2015 White Wine Entre chien et loup is, if I may say so myself, a daring cuvee of 42% Chardonnay, 40% Roussanne, 7% Viognier, 7% Petite Manseng and 4% Marsanne. Most of the varieties were grown at our own vineyards - Eleven Confessions in the Sta. Rita Hills and Cumulus right here in Oak View - but as always the Chardonnay and Marsanne are from the blocks we have long contracted at the Bien Nacido Vineyard. As always all of the fruit was whole cluster pressed and went dirty (without settling) into the trainers. The elevage occurred in 42% new French oak, 19% used barrels, 19% concrete eggs and 20% stainless steel. This exciting beauty, like virtually all of our wines, has a big bosom, a balancing rear end and an aristocratic manner that keeps these exterior proportions from getting vulgar. The wine displays a solidly golden color (both the Petite Manseng and the Roussanne have very small berries and rather thick skins, thus producing a lot of color elements). It is definitely full bodied, rich and palate staining, but the wine has a lot of structure and therefore is never flabby. In fact it remains statuesque and despite its muscle and curves, it maintains an uncanny elegance.?I am not sure exactly which previous SQN white I would compare it to the most, but if I am forced to pick one then probably the 2013 Résisté.
