2008 Erasmo Torontel Late Harvest Chile (375ml)

Francesco, the owner of both Erasmo and Col D'Orcia from Tuscany is one of the founders of MOVI- Movement of Independent Vintners, an organization created to develop the innovative spirit needed in the Chilean wine industry to help them compete at an international level. This is one of the original grapes brought into South America by the conquistadors, they brought two grapes, mission and torrontes. Right next to their vineyard they found an 80 year old head pruned vineyard, of Torrontez, which is where the grapes for this wine come from. The Condor on the label is one of the sacred birds of the Andes. Lovely aromatics on the nose with honeysuckle and orange peel notes, candied citrus and grapefruit and dried apricot fruit very aromatic. Sweet apricot and quince like fruit on the tongue with notes of honeyed peach and apricot fruit. This is the best example of torrontez that I have ever tasted. Only 3000 bottles produced!
