2012 Byron Chardonnay Nielson Vineyard Santa Maria Valley

A block whose vines were "cuttings" from the original 1964 block of Chardonnay planted at Nielson Vineyard, incredible richness on the nose with lots of wet stone like mineral lightly toasted oak spice and flinty notes. A very creamy wine on the tongue with a host of densely concentrated fruit and a long layered finish, lots of tongue tingly minerality at the end, some of that toasty oak spice lingering through the finish, a big but still quite balanced and fresh finish.
