2011 Kistler Trenton Roadhouse Vineyard Chardonnay Russian River Valley

A new offering for me comes from the rich Goldridge soils of the Russian River and Sonoma Coast. The 2011 Chardonnay Trenton Roadhouse is a dead-ringer for a Chassagne-Montrachet premier cru. Roasted hazelnuts, buttered citrus and wood smoke notes are followed by a full-bodied, honeyed Chardonnay...This winery has long featured some of the finest terroirs on the Sonoma Coast and Russian River for Chardonnays, and their approach has clearly been very Burgundian, with full malolactic fermentation, no acid adjustments and letting the vineyard and clonal material push its personality to the forefront.
