NV Philippe Gonet Roy Soleil Grand Cru, Brut Champagne, France

NV Philippe Gonet Roy Soleil Grand Cru, Brut Champagne, France image

Origin : In honour of Louis XIV, who fostered champagne’s worldwide popularity, the cuvée Roy Soleil, born in 2003, is the fruit of the imagination of a young team, who had begun to harness their talents. Made from 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay parcels of the family vineyard in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, this cuvée is aged for 6 months in oak barrels and then bottled and cellared for at least 3 years.

Tasting : The delicate and elegant nose opens up to candied fruit (citrus, apricot) and gingerbread. Its woody forest bouquet develops with finesse unveiling a multitude of remarkable aromas. Its attack is mouth-filling, dominated by ripe citrus. This champagne offers a lovely freshness and a lasting finish worthy of the best wines.

Frédéric Agid became a tattoo artist after a career in graphic design and communications. His drawings are singular, verging on caricature, and tell a story. Chantal Brégeon-Gonet met him in Paris over 12 years ago.

The idea was born to tell the story of the work and history of our Roy Soleil cuvée. A meticulous art that Roy Soleil practises on a tablet and in which he can include a thousand and one small details. More than 100,000 strokes are needed to create this label. Get lost in the dots of the sketches to find the 4 animals on the label. The label could be entitled « When the king at the court is partying the winegrowers in the vineyards and the cellars are working »

The Roy Soleil cuvée selected to highlight the label is made from Chardonnay from our favorite terroir: Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.
