Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, this tannic but ripe, powerful but balanced effort finishes velvety and long.

Rising 1,650 feet above the Napa Valley floor on the southwest side of Howell Mountain, the Mondavi family estate vineyard producing the grapes for this wine sits above the fog line during the growing season. The distinctive climate, along with volcanic and iron-rich red soils, produce fruit with great balance and intensity. This wine displays aromas of subtle toffee, flint, savory dark caramel, coffee with cream, toasty oak, smoked paprika, black cherry and black fruit on the nose. It is full-bodied with firm tannins yet offers soft supple layers of espresso, toast, mocha, concentrated berries, and vanilla. The finish ends with well-integrated oak.
