Red Mountain is Washington’s smallest American Viticultural Region (AVA) and among the most well-defined and distinctive areas due in large part to its geography. At the eastern edge of the Yakima Valley, Red Mountain is a moderately steep southwest facing slope and rises above a sharp bend in the Yakima River. The area has a desert climate with an average of only 5 inches of rain per year. As one of the warmer sites in the state grapes ripen exceptionally well.
This wine has a complex bouquet of toasty oak spice, roasted coffee, dark chocolate and array of rich blackberry, dark cherry and currant berry fruit, notes of clove and other dark spices lifting from the glass with a healthy dose of that classic Red Mountain fresh earth. A full and ripe wine on the tongue but has excellent structure with a fresh minerality that echoes on the nuance from the nose through the finish. Finish 45+ Excellent +
