Winemaker Notes
Dry Creek Vineyard's Epoch is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. Hand-crafted entirely from mature Dry Creek Valley hillside vines, this cuvée was composed from the best of 80 individual lots of Bordeaux-style varietals from the 1997 vintage. This compelling fusion of richness and elegance is defined by ripe black cherry, black currant, and intriguing hints of Asian spices expressed in unfolding layers of complexity. A richly extracted wine, Epoch is also gracefully balanced; it was aged for 21 months, predominantly in French oak barrels. In our 27-year history we have never produced a wine so big, so bold, so complex.
