(95 Points) This wine is absolutely monumental. The 2009 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Vigneto Alto TB rivals some of the most powerful and thickly extracted vintages you might find in the Romano Dal Forno portfolio. However, the style here is very different—with more exotic spice, sweetness and savory tobacco—but the wine's weight, heft and footprint are similarly large. The house blend sees 75% Corvina and Corvinone, 20% Rondinella and 5% Croatina. The grapes are set aside in the fruttaio to dry for an extended 120 days. The resulting residual sugar is an openly sweet-tasting 12.98 grams per liter. Fruit is harvested from 70-year-old grapes. Only 3,000 bottles were released. RobertParker.com
