The 2007 Fratta, tasted from barrel, is wonderful for its richness. This expansive, soft Fratta offers up red berries, herbs, licorice, spices and French oak. Today the wine is surprisingly accessible, but it will almost certainly firm up in bottle. In 2007 Fratta is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon and 38% Merlot. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2017.

A legendary, hedonistic wine made from 62% Cabernet Sauvignon and 38% Merlot from the Maculan vineyards in Breganze, within the Veneto region. Fermented in stainless steel and aged for 12 months in 100% new French oak barriques, Fratta is unfined and unfiltered to preserve its elegant structure and juicy dark fruit flavors. Tasting Notes: Deep ruby red in color with purple reflections, this wine offers an intense bouquet of red raspberries, black cherries, dried flowers, licorice, vanilla and spice, along with hints of cocoa and coffee. With a balanced expression of finegrained tannins and fullbodied elegance, this is a truly opulent red that is perfect for special occasions. Pairs beautifully with rich meat dishes, roasted game and aged cheeses.
