2013 Poderi Aldo Conterno Langhe Rosso

A blend of 80% Freisa, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in the blend, 9 months in stainless and then in barrique for 9 months, the vines were planted in the early 1940's and 50's. This wine has a rustic quality to the bouquet of fresh picked flowers, black licorice spice, dark cherry fruit and some of that Piedmont fresh earth, black truffle. A big and chewy wine on the tongue with layers of that plump ripe fruit and nice structure here through the finish, this wine has lovely balance and a typical piedmont earthy nuance through the finish.
