2012 Bodegas Farina Dama De Toro Malvasia

This is the oldest family owned winery in Toro started in 1942 and the father, Manuel Farina who is the founding father of modern Toro and he is 72 today and he is still in controll but the third generation, a man who was an advocate of softer and easier style of wines in Toro. They have two wineries one in Toro and then a tierra de Castillon and they own 300 hectares and they buy from local farmers another 150 hectares. The first to bring in Cold Fermentation, and barrique aging picking earlier, there were 9 wineries and today there are 54. This grape used to be a blending component and this wine is from 40-120 year old ungrafted vines, 12 hours on the skins they get a little carbonic from the cold temeratures that they keep the wine, has some of that floral and perfume but has a very distinct earthy/mineral component, orange blossoms, lime citrus. A light and refreshing style of white with fresh green pear and lime citrus fruit very light and fresh with a light spritz to the finish, also a touch fo tongue tingly minerality. Finish 35+ 110,000 bottles of this wine, this is the only white wine that they make here. Very Good +
