2005 Santa Rita Carmenere Pehuen Apalta

A blend of 95% Carmenere and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, some of the vines date back to the 1940's. An intense bouquet of peppery spice, dried tobacco and fresh plowed earth some dark currant and plum fruit but lots of that peppery spice and tobacco nuance on the nose . A good amount of that peppery spice to the dark currant and plum fruit with an array of cedar, cigar wrapper and fresh earth, a very long and layered finish with a nice firm hand of acidity and a good amount of that peppery spice, maybe a bit too much for some, coffee and dried tobacco through the finish.
