"Wino Forever"
Johnny Depp
(The tattoo once read 'Winona Forever'!)
I know forever seems like a long time but if you are a bottle of Madeira, a lifetime is a VERY long time. The oldest wine we have in the store is from the 1795 harvest and we have an incredible selection of Vintage Madeira in the store at all times.
As I like to say “we are doing scientific research with wine” here at Wine Watch and Friday night we have a double header! Yes – that is correct we are hosting two events on the same evening with our vintage Madeira tasting in the wine cave and the 2006 vintage California Cabernet Sauvignon in the wine bar these tastings are both on the same evening!
The Madeira tasting is always a small intimate event as there are not many that know the value of these amazing wines that seem to last forever and whenever we need to double up on events the same night an easy theme of study is vintage Cabernet Sauvignon. I always say it takes 10 years for great cabernet sauvignon to start drinking at or near its peak and at the age of 20 if you like wines with a little bottle age most are at or near their peak.
On Friday March 13th we study the world’s oldest wines and the world’s most popular red varietal drinking in their prime. It would be hard for most people to do both events, but I have to!
