2000 Trentadue La Storia Zinfandel Alexander Valley

Winemaker Notes: Zinfandel has been the mystery grape of California as its origins are lost in history. Ampelographical studies reveal a relationship with the primitivo grape of Italy, but history places the beginnings of primitivo after the introduction of zinfandel in California. The more likely candidate for its origins is Hungarys plavac mali grape. Our estate vineyards contribute to some of Californias finest zinfandels, including being the source of Ridges esteemed Geyserville zinfandel blend (yep, thats us). Our zinfandel has an old-vine character as well: robust and full, jammy rich fruit, laden with black pepper and spice. Made from four Trentadue Estate Vineyards. A small percentage of petite sirah heightens the color and balance.
