2023 Louis Michel Petit Chablis, France

Michel’s 2023 Petit Chablis, derived from 1.7 hectares of 25-year-old vines behind the grands crus, is rather charming and broad, wafting with aromas of pear, ripe citrus fruit and red apple. Medium to full-bodied and rather opulent, it’s a generous wine with an expansive finish, though lacking the acidic cut. It will drink well right out of the gates. Guillaume Michel presides over this 25-hectare estate, with most of the land located in the historic part of Chablis. This estate has long been a reference point for tank-fermented and -matured Chablis, a style that the Michel family helped to popularize in the 1980s.
