In this estate there is a very precise philosophy: limited yields, grapes harvested at full maturity and a classic vinification characterized by blurring, a technique that allows aging on extremely fine lees. The result is extremely elegant and homogeneous wines, much appreciated by French and world enthusiasts. Batard Montrachet (produced south of Le Montrachet) is among the best whites in the world. Its light gold color fades towards a golden yellow, releasing an extraordinarily powerful aromatic bouquet. In this rich and complex wine, we find aromas of lemon, butter, almond, honey and spices. Intense and imposing, the Batard Montrachet of the Domaine Sauzet was produced in vineyards with an average age of 30 years and vinified at 50% in new oak barrels. After about 8 years of rest in the cellar, it will reach a perfect maturity... An authentic flagship of the denomination.
Created in 1903, the Domaine Etienne Sauzet has been producing Montrachet since 1993. Gérard Boudot, husband of a niece of Etienne Sauzet, has been managing the property since 1974 and in the mid-1980s has greatly improved the quality of the wines produced. The low yields, the most late harvests and the classic winemaking with speed, which allows an aging on the fine lees, contribute to the production of wines of great regularity and exemplary finesse, much appreciated by French and other world enthusiasts. Since 1989, after the estate has been divided with other owners, Gérard Boudot manages a negoce business in parallel and buys musts to complete production while maintaining a high level of quality. The property covers 9 hectares.
