2020 Andremily Wines Syrah Slide Hill Edna Valley

(100 Points) The 2020 Slide Hill Estate Syrah is the first estate release from Andremily, composed of 95% Syrah and 5% white grapes from 39 planted acres at Slide Hill Vineyard in Edna Valley, which Andremily recently purchased. It was vinified with 30% whole clusters and matured for around 34 months in 80% new French barriques. Bottled August 26 and tasted October 25, it's an incredible wine that opens with a deep well of pure aromas: blueberry, violet and lilac give way to star anise, roasted coffee, sagebrush and botanical tones. The palate is explosive! Highly concentrated and focused, it's defined by its surprising vibrancy and sheer depth of flavor. It has a support of abundant, chocolate-textured tannins and incredible length. This mind-bending Syrah, already incredibly delicious, deserves plenty of bottle time to continue to unfold.
