2014 Penfolds St. Henri Shiraz South Australia (MAGNUM)

A classic St Henri, much more akin to a Rhône Syrah than an Aussie Shiraz. Lifted aromatics, with floral notes of sappy iris that open up into spice and graphite layered over purple fruit. Lovely purity on the palate, with fine, silky tannins; aged in large vats, the oak influence is imperceptible. Wisps of smoke, dried herbs and dark spice dance over the lingering finish. Lithe, with rich plum fruit and admirable freshness; so enjoyable. (Drink between 2024-2044) (JS)   Review Date: 11/2024
