2021 Petrolo 'Boggina A' Valdarno di Sopra Tuscany

This is Sangiovese that has been fermented and aged in amphorae made with clay from Impruneta, Tuscany. It sees eight months of skin contact. The Petrolo 2021 Val d'Arno di Sopra Bòggina A was born in what vintner Luca Sanjust describes as a difficult year for farming but one that ultimately gave great results. The wine shows an especially tight and firm character that becomes almost Burgundian with time, with floral notes and blood orange. Sulfites are reduced to a minimum in order to give the lift and punchiness that works so well.Rating: 94+
