2009 FONTODI VIN SANTO 375ML

(97 points) The copper-colored 2009 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico is somehow both intense and also remarkably fresh. Burnt sugar, caramel, dried herbs and spice all resonate in this vivid, deeply expressive wine. As always, Fontodi excels with a rich, unctuous style of Vin Santo. The 2009, though, has terrific freshness and more than enough acidity to play off the richer elements. The 110 grams per liter of residual sugar are not especially evident. This is a spectacular Vin Santo by any measure. -Vinous.
