2017 Patz & Hall Pinot Noir Alder Springs Mendocino

The 2017 Pinot Noir has a high-mountainside wine structure of firm, dense tannins with complex aromas of dried rose petals, cranberry and pomegranate with a hint of dried sage. It is showing a juicy acid balance along with smooth sweet tannins which mingle seamlessly with spicy red fruits and five-spice powder. 18% of the wine was fermented as 100% whole cluster in a separate lot, adding a savory, fine herb trace. Like many of the greatest vintages from Alder Springs, this promises a long, fascinating evolution in the cellar.
