Winery Notes
I’m thrilled to offer you my second Pinot noir from Freedom Hill Vineyard, owned and farmed by the Dusschee family. Only seven barrels of this wine comprise this bottling. It’s a rich, medium-dark red with youthful blue undertones and has the transparency of an eye-clean ruby. Even the nose has depth: ripe, dark red and black berries along with subtle spices, hints of violets, and ocean air minerals. Overall, this wine has more unconcealed power than my other bottlings, and the mouth is full of just-ripe boysenberries and deep red berries with a hint of dark chocolate, black tea, and cola. This Freedom Hill is everchanging in the glass while also having a powerful, still presence underneath. Back-palate pleasing tannins carry to the long finish in this wild (as in “not tame”) beauty, and this Pinot needs time.
