2019 Boroli Barolo DOCG Piedmont, Italy

2019 Boroli Barolo DOCG Piedmont, Italy image

Name: Barolo Docg Terroir: 100% Nebbiolo.

The vines are in Castiglione Falletto, the heart of the Langhe and the Barolo area. The exposure is East, West and South-West; the soil is clayey limestone, with a depth of 0.5 meters on the marl. The rootstock is Kober / S04, with a density of vines of 4000 / ha and with an age ranging from 6 to 35 years. Vinification: In red with crushing-destemming, fermentation in steel at a controlled temperature for 10-12 days, then submerged cap for 15 days and then subsequent racking and malolactic fermentation in small wood in rooms at a controlled temperature. Once the malolactic fermentation is completed, racking is carried out in small and large wood for aging not less than two years. Finally, bottling is carried out and the wine is refined in the bottle for no less than a year.

Description: Garnet red color with light orange reflections, limpid; fairly persistent parfume, classic, with undergrowth fruit. Lively and harmonious taste, very elegant and vinous. Vintage quality: Very good

Barolo 2019 embodies the elegance and refinement of the Nebbiolo grape. With its vibrant ruby color, this wine presents itself with a bouquet of delicate aromas, including wild strawberries, rose petals, cinnamon, and cedarwood. On the palate, it distinguishes itself with a smooth structure and silky tannins, featuring flavors that evoke red fruits, vanilla, and a subtle hint of earth. Barolo 2019 is an exemplar of varietal purity and unmistakable style.

Vegetative cycle

For 2019 Barolo, following a long winter, plant growth resumed without any issues. The variable weather with moderate average temperatures continued throughout May 2019, confirming a delay of about two weeks compared to the vegetative cycle of recent years, but in accordance with a more customary pattern.

Climatic trend

Unlike last year, which was particularly early, 2019 Barolo will be remembered for having followed a more traditional path.

The beginning of the agricultural season was slow due to the protracted winter until February, causing a delay in spring with rains and low temperatures that lasted until mid-March. The unstable climate, characterized by moderate average temperatures, continued throughout the month of May.

The hottest part of the summer was recorded between the last week of June and the first week of July, followed by days with milder temperatures alternating with piogre. At the end of July, there was the second heat wave of the summer, which ended with thunderstorms, although intense but not harmful to the vines. The rest of the summer season was characterized by a mild climate with sporadic and regular piogre, which required constant attention from winegrowers for the management of the vineyard.

The harvest of Nebbiolo grapes was carried out in the second half of October, and its analytical parameters were “classic”, with a good sugar content and an excellent polyphenolic profile, suggesting the potential for structured wines with remarkable aging abilities.
