94 points Decanter
This single-vineyard Heitz Chardonnay from Quartz Creek in the Oak Knoll AVA was aged on the fine lees with stirring once per month and filtered before bottling. No malolactic fermentation. An immensely bright, vivid, and remarkably complex Chardonnay. Early-picked stone fruit and citrus aromas lead to a medium-bodied white with excellent mid-palate depth and the freshness of lemon zest laced with vanilla and framed by aromatic pops of white flowers, finishing long and lean with stony mineral notes. The acid tension here is remarkably pronounced. The Quartz Creek vineyard (formerly called Triere) was one of the original sites that made up the Burgess estate. (JC)
