Our first vineyard designate bottling from the famed Stagecoach Vineyards, considered a world famous wine estate that might be called the last frontier of the Napa Valley, is a wilder, more rugged vineyard, fragrant with wild herbs and dotted with rare native plants. Located in Oakville, it is here that the Krupp brothers, Jan and Bart, have excavated over a billion pounds of basalt, andesite, and tufa boulders to create this remarkable property. Over the past two decades, 600 acres of vines have been planted in 175 uniquely individual blocks among four designated regions. The wine is redolent with heavy aromas of wild black fruit, dusty bramble, anise, subtle oak spiciness and forest floor herbs. On the palate, the intensity of the fruit is striking, with creamy black cherry, blackberry and cassis. A harmonious and balanced wine, the epitome of elegance on the palate and the very long finish.
