Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is a little broody to begin and then, with coaxing, offers glimpses at fertile loam, fungi and charcoal notes over a core of blackcurrant pastilles, mulberries and ripe plum plus a waft of stewed tea. Full-bodied, the palate is packed with earth and mineral accents, framed by firm, sturdy tannins and compelling freshness, finishing on a lingering minerally note. (LPB)   Review Date: 09/2019
