2013 Seven Hills McClellan Estate Malbec Walla Walla Valley

This wine comes from a fan-trained Malbec block at McClellan Estate Vineyard that was planted in 2008.  The fan system produces wine of particularly generous density and flavor.  After careful vinification in small, open top fermenters, the wine was aged for 16 months in primarily Hungarian oak contributing a unique pungency and firmness that works particularly well with Malbec’s character.  Blackberry and blueberry fruit on the nose with grahm cracker pie crust notes and violet floral highlights.  Has good concentration and depth of fruit here on the tongue with some dry tannins at the end but lots of dark berry fruit.  Finish 45+    Excellent
