2005 Chateau Lassegue St Emilion

Classic Bordeaux nose of fresh plowed earth, gravel, light smoke, fine herbs, fresh ground coffee and spice box aromas to compliment the plum and currant berry fruit on the nose. The nose is a bit closed upon opening but the fruit really begins to jump out of the glass with about 3 hours in a decanter. One the palate the wines is still quite firm with big tannins but velvety smooth around the edges, a good amount of toasty oak spice and fresh mineral/earth notes through the finish. I had this wine open for 1 week at home and could not believe how much better it became- it continued to smooth out and gained ripe succulent black berry fruit and toasty oak spice but still maintained fresh acidity through the finish. Finish 50+ MOST EXCELLENT
