2013 Barboursville Octagon Virginia

Cabernet Sauvignon is very inconsistent here so Cabernet Franc is the base and the blend changes every year they don’t make the octagon every year. This wine has a rather complex bouquet with dark plum and cherry berry fruit notes of tobacco spice and earth, new leather saddle, mocha, dark earth. A good hand of fresh earth, dark spices and dark berry fruit, some dry tannins, this wine needs time a note of bitter coco at the end, smoothing out nicely on the second day even better.
