2006 DOLIUM MALBEC GRAN RESERVA MENDOZA

70 year old vineyard in Mendoza this is 16+ % alcohol, this wine has a lot of black licorice, espresso, dark chocolate, mocha and sweet blackberry liqueur like fruit very big and fruity but a complex array of violet and black earth and dark spice notes also coming out as the wine opens. A very big and chewy wine on the tongue with a host of black licorice spice, bitter chocolate to the blackberry liqueur like fruit along with violet floral notes, very intense, will this wine ever some together, a bit mouth puckering at the end right now even on the second day but showing some promise for the future.
