1974 Caymus Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

(90 points) "The final vintage before the introduction of the Special Selection, ’74 Caymus has matured with grace and style. This bottle has a very attractive nose with dark plum, black tea, wild hedgerow and a hint of crushed violet, maintaining good definition but perhaps denied a little vigour with time. The palate is sweet and fleshy on the entry with just a touch of VA, yet silky smooth in texture with dark cherry, dried blood and a touch of balsamic towards the finish.
