Burgundy makes you think of silly things, Bordeaux makes you talk of them and Champagne makes you do them.
- Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin
This is another one of those tastings that we are doing just because we have the wines and they need to be consumed. This excellent vintage is not as highly regarded as 1990 or 1996 but I would place 1998 in the top three vintages in the decade of the 1990's and the prices on these wines are still reasonable at auction today. With the proposed 100% tariffs on all European wines coming in 2020 these wines may look expensive but we have never had a 100% tax on the value of wine in this country- it will be devastating to collectors of these top level Bordeaux and all the other great collectibles of France, Italy and Spain.
Imagine what these wines will cost in restaurants that charge 2-3 times retail! A tasting like this would be $10,000 per person after these new tariffs!! Raise a final glass to having the best prices on fine wine in the world and write your congress and senate people tomorrow to tell them to stop this insanity before we go from the best prices and the greatest country in the world to drink fine wine to one of the most expensive!!!
How many times will you get to drink Chateau Petrus, Chateau Margaux, Chateau Haut Brion and Chateau Mouton Rothschild, and more...This is truly a "once in a Lifetime" wine tasting event. Speaking of vintage Bordeaux check out the vintage Bordeaux offering at the end of this offering, we have a huge stash of wines here at the store ready to drink right now and nothing here has been exposed to the new tariffs!!
This is a sit down pre-poured tasting and we are limited to only 12 tasters. Chef Toni Lampasone will be making a special menu to accompany the tasting wines. The fee for this tasting is $1500+ tax, for reservations call 954-523-9463 or e-mail andy@winewatch.com.
