"Drink some wine till we get drunk"
Crush by Dave Matthews
Speaking of Dave Matthews he now has a wine called Crush!
Yes- you are looking at the schedule correctly we are doing two events in one evening! We have Revena Winery at Cafe Maxx and Tenuta I Greppi and Viticcio Winery here at the store next Tuesday night.
Join us here at the store as we break Bread with Beatrice Landini and she shows us the current releases from both of these excellent properties in Tuscany.
The Landini family, owners of Viticcio winery in the picturesque town of Greve in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. The history of Viticcio is actually the history of the Landini family which, in the early 1960s became the owner of the winery. The founder, Lucio Landini, an engineer, was also a man deeply attached to Tuscan tradition, the Chianti soil and its products. During a time of great economic crisis Lucio and his wife Franca, compelled to undertake the risky financial venture of starting up a winery, decided to aim high and count primarily on exportation. From these modest beginnings the focus remains the same today - the production of high quality wines worthy of an expert international clientele.
With many years of wine-making experience in Greve they decided to do a joint venture with the Cancellieri-Scaramuzzi family, in the notorious and magical Bolgheri territory, to make a new dream come true.
The winery is located in the Bolgheri doc wine region, which is one of Italy's most esteemed denominations. Located about 100 km South- west of Florence, in a small area with a particularly good microclimate for Bordeaux varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.
The winery, Tenuta I Greppi, established in 2002 ,near the village of Castagneto Carducci - Bolgheri, is the result of a journey taken by two families who grew up together.
The I Greppi Winery totals 25 hectares, of which 15 were recently planted with high density vineyards. The production zone is located 15 meters above sea level on the characteristic sands of Donoratico, particularly rich in silicon.
The result is the creation of two great wines, Greppiccante and Greppicaia, produced following the winery’s philosophy of achieving elegance and sheer pleasure.
This is a formal sit down event here at the store and we are limited to 15 tasters. Wine Watch Caterings Toni Lampasone will be making a few small courses to accompany the tasting wines. The fee for this tasting is $35 + tax, for reservations call 954-523-9463.

From the 2007 vintage we will be giving more prominence to the indigenous grapes, increasing the percentage of Sangiovese Grosso to 95%, with the remaining 5% being Cabernet Sauvignon. The Sangiovese and Cabernet grapes are vinified separately using selected yeasts that vary according to the grape variety. Delestage and pumping over are carried out according to the characteristics of the grapes for a period ( fermentation and maceration) ranging from 22 to 28 days. When the malolactic fermentation is complete, the wines are blended and transferred into 300-litre barrels made French and American oak, where it matures for about 18 months.
